Meatspace, a term coined by John Perry Barlow, refers to the physical world inhabited by humans. It refers to the world where people meet in person as opposed to online. Meatspace is actually a subset of reality in that it is the part of reality where people reside. Meatspace does not include cyberspace which is also part of the real world but not the physical world, nor does it include other planets where humans have yet to colonize. It is also meant to be the opposite of the afterlife, the next world, and other references to real or imagined places where people don't go in physical form. Hugging occurs in meatspace.
